Extending Google's UI and brand system into motion, translating static components and guidelines into animated interfaces that stay on-brand. The work focused on keeping every transition consistent with Material's rules while giving the system a sense of life and continuity across screens.

HomeSchool

Product System that scale

Built for families teaching at home, often a single parent juggling multiple kids, multiple grade levels, and a day that rarely goes to plan. That reality drove every decision. Parents needed to see the whole week at a glance and make changes in seconds, so we kept planning tools front and center and made progress legible without requiring anyone to dig.

Structure was treated as a functional constraint rather than a feature list, using clear grade and subject hierarchies that scale from one child to five without the interface getting heavier.

We built a custom design system so the product felt warm to kids while staying efficient for the adult running the day, then worked closely with devs and marketing on rapid prototyping to validate the planning and tracking flows early. From there the work extended into branding, a supportive marketing site, and launch preparation, making sure Home School Plus reached the families who needed it.

Sensory Toolbox

What I Worked On

Simple system and strategies that scale

Keeping in mind children and families living with Tourette's, ADHD, autism, and sensory processing differences. That framing drove every decision. Interfaces needed large, forgiving tap targets and a navigation model simple enough to use during a difficult moment, so we kept hierarchy shallow and made each screen state obvious.

Color was treated as a functional constraint rather than decoration, using a warm and legible palette calibrated to stay engaging without overstimulating.

We built a custom illustration and design system to carry that balance consistently across the product, then worked closely with Robert Stitt on rapid prototyping to validate flows early. From there the work extended into branding, a supportive marketing site, and launch preparation, making sure Sensory Toolbox reached the families who needed it.

Within the product my team explored how theming and structure could better guide kids through ABCmouse’s activity homepage, creatively expanding their imagination and feel part of a world they can build. Combining product design and illustration through story to help them move confidently between subjects and skill levels.

Curriculum areas supported included:

  • Reading & Language Arts

  • Math

  • Science & Discovery

  • Creative Art & Music

  • Emotional awareness & self regulation

Visuals, System and strategies that scale

It was important to redesign of a new version of the ABCmouse UX and UI experience, focusing on a scalable visual system that made it easier for kids to explore research-backed, curriculum-driven activities. To bring the work to life, I partnered closely with animation and engineering to ensure interactions felt smooth, responsive, and simple for young learners.

Onboarding

On onboarding, I worked with the acquisitions and leadership teams on reimagining the full onboarding experience with improvements through A/B testing, comparing flows and design directions to increase retention and make the sign-up journey more inviting for parents while staying aligned with the product experience. A mix between business thinking, design and tech.

Games

Experiences inside the app are the most important, contributing to interactive moments that helped kids learn through play and became some of the most engaged-with features in the product. I approached these as full experiences, shaping the core idea, the rules and progression, the screen layout, and the look and feel so the mechanics stayed simple, readable, and satisfying for young learners.

Some games I design include a stacking game where I developed the concept and designed the gameplay flow, visual states, and feedback moments to keep it intuitive and rewarding. I also created new characters and interactive experiences that fit naturally within the ABCmouse world, supporting different learning goals while adding personality, variety, and repeatable fun across the broader activity library.

Results

Working with ABCmouse was more than a design job, it was about combining research backed learning with a playful, scalable design system, and making way for ABCmouse to feel more guided, more cohesive, and more fun to explore.
